Finalist in both So You Think You’re funny in 1993 and in the BBC Open Mic Awards 1995.

From 1996 performed at the Gilded Balloon during the Edinburgh Festival and throughout the year as Viv and Gill, a double act, until 2000. Together they compered Glasgow’s New Year in George Square 1997/98, T in the park 1998 and supported Jo Brand and Lynn Ferguson on tour.
