Outstanding character
comedy from one of Britain's rising stars – Simon serves up wickedly
funny slices of life leading to him becoming a 4 star total sell-out at
the Edinburgh Fringe 2006.
Simon
Brodkin, best known for his loveable teenage yob, Lee Nelson (C4's The
Morning After Show), is no one trick pony – as a fistful of Edinburgh
reviews will testify.
There
is Chris, the enthusiastically blank holiday rep; Hugo, the thick, stoned
trustafarian on "well wicked" grass struggling to remember which
right-on bandwagon he’s jumping on today.
Then
there’s Dr Omprakash - a well-meaning, patronising Indian doctor whose
slightly leftfield Y-fronts express his wacky side almost as articulately
as his Simpsons socks. Simon, a former doctor himself, created Dr
Omprakash from people he encountered at the NHS in Manchester.
But
of all Simon’s creations it is Lee ‘Nelsy’ Nelson who is the punters
favourite. Nelson has taken the comedy scene by storm, earning billings
alongside ITV’s Harry Hill.
Now
it’s time for ‘Nelsy’ to take on Glasgow’s Neds. Will he survive?
It’s a sure bet as Brodkin has created a fully rounded character, played
with affectionate ribbing that’ll warm the cockles.
