Sean
Grant was selected as the funniest performer of the night by a panel of expert
industry judges including best selling author and top Scots comedienne Janey
Godley.
Janey
said: “ Considering he was up against professional acts with eight or nine
years experience it’s fantastic that a
newcomer such as Sean who has only
been performing comedy for four months had such confidence and superb
material.”
Other
judges at the final were Steve Bennett (Chortle), Margaret-Ann Docherty (BBC
Radio
Scotland)
, Bev Lyons (Daily Record) and Freelance Comedy Critic
Jay Richardson.
Last
night’s final was staged and organised by Ha Ha Comedy, the largest producers
of touring comedy shows in
Scotland
. Heats were held all over the country from Helensburgh
to Aberdeen with more than 60 Scots comics from the Scottish circuit taking part
before being whittled down to the eventual 10 finalists.
The ten finalists were Rowan
Campbell, Sean Grant, Scott Forbes, Jay Lafferty, Scott Agnew, Gus Tawse, Teddy,
The Wee Man, Niall Browne and Bratchy.
