Entries now open for the Scottish
Comedian Of The
Year 2008
|
| Yep it's that time of year
again when we start the search for this year's best Scottish stand up
comedian. Last year over 60 comedians
entered and ten made it through to the final at Glasgow's Old Fruitmarket
where our expert judging panel had a tough job deciding who the winner
was.
|
|
In the end it was won by newcomer Sean
Grant, who had only been performing for just over three months. Some other
competitors had over a decade of professional experience.
Since then he has been signed by Craig
Hill's management, flown out to the Toronto Comedy Festival,
featured in many press articles, had a critically acclaimed sell out
debut solo show at the Glasgow Comedy Festival and headlined many
gigs throughout Scotland.
This August he makes his debut at the Edinburgh
Fringe performing for 26 nights at the prestigious Gilded Balloon. |
So what about this year, are you funny enough to
win?
If so, who do you have to impress? and what's the prize?
Read the rules,
download an application
form and email it to info@hahacomedy.co.uk
. Closing date for applications is Tuesday 19th August 2008.
Heats will take place across Scotland
in late August / Early September. The heat winners are decided by audience
vote, so you only have to impress the audience. Each heat winner will go
through to the final.
The 2nd placed comedians from each heat
will battle it out for a spot in the semi final on Saturday 13th September
at Eastwood Park Theatre in Giffnock.
One spot in the final will be reserved
for the winner of the Grand Gong Show on Thursday 25th September in Maggie
May's.

This year's judging panel includes; Sanjeev
Kohli & Jane McCarry better known as Naveed & Isa from
BBC Still Game.

Other judges
