The 2007 Scottish Comedian of The Year finalist has become a stalwart of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival since he debuted his solo show "Oh, hello!" in 2006 - performing as a compere and act every night of the festival in both 2006 and 2007 - from rowdy drunken Gong Shows to even rowdier and drunker Late Shows - Agnew can handle them all. Be it a room of 2 or two thousand Scott will work the room to ensure each punter enjoys their time in his company. In 2007 he was asked to perform by the Magner's Glasgow International Comedy Festival organisers the first gig of the festival on the 8am Glasgow to Edinburgh bus as a publicity stunt. He also performed a second solo show at this festival called "Bingo" - an interactive improvised game of sexual history bingo which regaled his fans with stories of disastrous one night stands and then invited them to share theirs. Scott's adaptability is one of his greatest strengths and has hosted events and shows as diverse as the JAR Music Group's Emergenza battle of the bands finals two years running at Glasgow Carling Academy in front of 2000 music fans to Scotland's premier drag competition Priscilla Queen of Glasgow and a Transgendered Fashion Show. He has also hosted the SGND Scottish Guys and Gals Next Door Model Search 2007 as well as work for corporate clients such as 3 Mobile and drinks giants Diageo whilst having worked teaching stand-up comedy for disadvantaged youths on a Glasgow housing estate. Aside from his own stand-up act, Scott occasionally performs a Chic Murray tribute which drew plaudits from the Scottish comedy legend's very own daughter, Annabel - who has since taught Scott how to yodel like her father did. His impersonation as Chic has seen Scott perform the act as far a-field as Portsmouth.
"head, shoulders, knees and toes above the rest... the massive (as in tall and soon to be very famous) Scott Agnew made up for last year's disappointment with this proud victory." The Scotsman - September 2008 "a bold, brash, barnstorming performance... hilariously graphic... a powerhouse set" Chortle - September 2008 "a comedy performance peppered with
killer gags delivered with deadly accuracy." Evening Times March 2008 "He shares Billy Connolly's ability to spin an anecdote and draw out its humour. His tale of two tramps playing ‘shite volley’, especially, you can imagine coming from the Big Yin." Steve Bennett, Chortle - September 2007 "Stridently non-camp gay comic Scott Agnew will surely have his moment in the sun." Brian Donaldson, The Scotsman - September 2007 "Raw, bareback comedy at its' best" The Glaswegian - September 2005 "Fantastic!" Gaydarradio.com - March 2006 "Well dressed and indiscreet" Jay Richardson, The Herald - March 2007 "Weight loss and boyfriends have never been funnier" Scotsgay Magazine - March 2006 | |||||||||||||
