Robin Ince was named best compere at the
2007 Chortle Awards, and founder of the Book Club which won the innovation
award at the same ceremony in 2006. Regularly supports Ricky Gervais on
tour.
Robin is a comedian, writer, presenter
and all round popular culture pundit and film expert.
Over the years Robin has written gags for the likes of Alastair McGowan,
Graham Norton, The Sketch Show and Have I Got News For You.
He also wrote the hugely successful ‘John Peel meets the dictator’s’
monologues for Channel 4's The 11'OClock Show.
In 2005 he performed a brand new stand-up show Robin Ince As Dumb As
You at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to critical acclaim, as well as
hosting the comedy show The Book Club.
He has supported Ricky Gervais on his Politics tour around the
country and featured in the Politics DVD that came out last year.
He also appeared briefly in an episode of The Office, as a job
applicant.
Robin has also contributed to the world of radion. Recent credits include
writing and performing The In Crowd on Radio 4, and has also
appeared in We've Been Here Before, Loose Ends, 4 At The
Store and Beat The Kids.
No doubt you may recognise him from popping up all over the place on
telly, lending his views on such shows as Big Brother's Little Brother
and Morning Glory, both for Channel 4
He continues to gig extensively on the UK circuit and beyond both as a
stand up and compere including South Africa, Australia, Poland and Bosnia
where he rather bizarrely supported The Stranglers in front of an audience
of 1,500 squaddies.
Robin has recently written his first feature film. Set in the world of
children’s dance competitions, Razzle Dazzle is a comedy starring
Ben Miller, one half of comedy double act Armstrong and Miler.
Please
note: Most comedians are lazy incompetent sods, who can't read a train
timetable, or would pay 30 pieces of silver to appear on a pilot for a radio
panel show. Thus all line ups are subject to change.
Please check with the venue 24hrs prior
to the show for confirmation of line ups.
