Norman Lovett was well
into his thirties before he decided to be a stand-up comedian. TV and radio
exposure soon followed, although he is best known for his role as 'Holly' in
cult sci-fi sitcom Red Dwarf.
He was one of the small
group of comics who played the original Comedy Store, and as well as being a
regular feature at many of the country's top venues has also appeared in various
'unusual' places, including supporting The Clash in the late 1970s, and
supporting S Club 7 in more recent times (yes, really).
He considers himself to be
a stand-up comedian who can act a bit, and is yet to appear in a pantomime.
"exquisite stand-up
comedy" - The Guardian
"it's not an act - the man really is this funny" - The Scotsman
"the man is a natural born comic … his delivery is so deadpan, he makes
Jack Dee seem like Ken Dodd … few could ever match his subtle skill" -
Edinburgh Evening News
"Lovett turns aimlessness into an art. Max Wall, remember, once appeared in
Waiting For Godot, and you can easily imagine Lovett following in his footsteps,
big boots and all" - The Times
"he's funnier than ever" - Evening Standard
"Lovett knows a thing or two about delivery … the uninterested, deadpan
style provides a perfect platform for brilliant one-liners" - Chortle
Please
note: Most comedians are lazy incompetent sods, who can't read a train
timetable, or would pay 30 pieces of silver to appear on a pilot for a radio
panel show. Thus all line ups are subject to change.
Please check with the venue 24hrs prior
to the show for confirmation of line ups.
