If.Comedy Award Nominee 2007
I'm Ivan Brackenbury the Hospital Radio DJ from Queen
Elizabeth Hospital Radio [QUEHR] in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
I first appeared as a character in the stand up comedy of Tom Binns in about
1992 after that I had my own show on BFBS [The Forces] every afternoon.
My adventures as a member of the TA where a huge hit with the troops.
I've always kept my show, Disease Hour 6-7.15 on QUEHR regardless of
what other opportunities have presented themselves in the world of media. e.g.
my own show on BBC GLR and BBC London, regular slots on the Chris Evans Show
and XFM, Guest spots on Steve Wright In The Afternoon and presenting the links
for Channel 4 T Music.
I decided to tour my radio show in 2007 so everyone can enjoy it without the
need to get ill in the Chesterfield Area. My roadshow captures all the fun and
excitement of getting ill in hospital.
The show was nominated for the If.Comedy Award 2007 and won one of the
prestigious Spirit of the Fringe Awards 2007. A man who writes for The Times
thought it was the funniest show at the Fringe.
As a result I'm now planning my own Radio 2 Show.
WHAT
THEY SAY:
'The
funniest thing I’ve seen in my life' Simon Bates
'He's
a comedy genius' Chris Evans
'I couldn’t believe the precision of the timing' Capitol Radio
Please
note: Most comedians are lazy incompetent sods, who can't read a train
timetable, or would pay 30 pieces of silver to appear on a pilot for a radio
panel show. Thus all line ups are subject to change.
Please check with the venue 24hrs prior
to the show for confirmation of line ups.
