IVAN Brackenbury is
the comic creation of stand-up
and former telly personality Tom Binns (C4’s Ri:se and ‘Under the
Moon’) with writing back-up from gagsmith Gary Delaney (BBC New Comedy
Awards Finalist 2002).
Brackenbury,
a tragic Hospital Radio DJ in the mould of Alan Partridge, has become a
huge hit with listeners on BRMB Radio in
Birmingham
and across the midlands and is
now embarking on an all-conquering quest of the
UK
.
But
don’t let us tell you about Ivan – he’s a bonkers sort who’s
perfectly capable of speaking for himself.
Ivan
said: “My name is Ivan Brackenbury and I am passionate about volunteer
radio for the sick. I've been serving the sick for over 25 years now. I'm
head of music at
Chesterfield
and North Derbyshire Hosptial
Raido. I'm also the flag ship presenter.
”I love meeting the patients having a laugh and a joke with them and
then popping on my headphone at hospital radio towers and blasting out
some banging tunes. We can't always play the CDs people are after (I say
CD, I mean mp3, as we use a playout system) but we'll always put on
something cheery.
”I've never wanted to work for any other station like radio 2 [not that
they've asked] but I have been on the James Wales show on talksport, xfm,
glr it's radio LND now and BBC radio one with Lee and Herring.
This
is the first anyone in Scotland will have had the opportunity to see Ivan
Brackenbury’s Hospital Radio Roadshow live – so treat yourself to
something special and be amongst the first to enjoy the bonkers world of
Ivan Brackenbury. See www.myspace.com/ivanbrackenbury
for a taster of all the madness.
