"Alan’s talent and experience immediately shone through as he worked the crowd"Manchester Comedy Online "A Festival institution " Evening Times "Scottish Comedy Veteran" Daily Record If there is a rabble that needs roused then Alan Anderson is your man. Since 1998 Alan has been performing as a stand up comedian at the main comedy venues in the North of Britain and Ireland. A specialist in improvised comedy with audience banter, Alan is regarded as one of the leading compere and warm up acts in Scotland and Northern England. Energetic yet lovable, outspoken but seldom (too) rude, Alan will take any room by the scruff of the neck and entertain it. Alan hosts the heats for the Scottish Comedian of the Year competiton and comperes the SCOTY showcase tour Triple Scotch. Alan also regularly comperes shows which have featured Johnny Vegas, Bernard Manning, Peter Kay, Ross Noble & Jimmy Carr. Regular compere venues include Baby Blue in Liverpool, Last Laugh in Sheffield, Maggie May's, Blackfriars and City Halls in Glasgow. Alan can now also be found gigging with Jongleurs. Most matchdays Alan can be found hosting lunchtime corporate gigs at some of Scotland's main sporting grounds. A keen tri-athlete Alan is now the the commentator for the Scottish Triathlon Championships, British Youth Championships and British Sprint Triathlon Championships, as well as the Corus Elite event at Strathclyde Park which was filmed for Channel 4. Compering is not all Alan does though, he has an excellent 45 minute headline set. As a former architect Alan is the perfect guide for his Family Friendly Coach Tours which put a humourous but intelligent slant on Glasgow and its history. Alan also performs a 90 minute one man show on his experiences taking part in Medical trials for the Male contraceptive. This show TESTING TESTES premiered at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival in March 2004. Alan is a founder member of the Steering Committee for the Glasgow International Comedy Festival, now the largest event of its kind in Europe. Alan is the only performer on the committee. In 2005 Alan was booked to perform shows in Dubai and then New Zealand at the time of the British Lions Rugby tour. In his time however, he has played in a few toilets as well though (lets not mention performing between bouts 5 & 6 of the Arbroath Boxing Association Annual invitational meet). With this experience Alan will make any audience feel as if the have witnessed something.. possibly even something spectacular. Unlike many comedians who flout their prestigious awards, Alan is proud to say that he has never entered a comedy competition in his life - he just runs them. Since 1990 Alan has been filling dance floors up and down the UK. Alan has performed specialist Disco, House and Funk sets at some of the countries biggest clubs including the Haçienda in Manchester, Cream in Liverpool, The Arches in Glasgow and headlining the Old Skool Float at the Radio 1 Love Parade in Leeds playing to over 300,000 clubbers. However his greatest skill is filling dance floors at Corporate Parties and weddings, laying down the finest selection of deep filled Camembert cheesey floor fillers, which are guaranteed to make you, your mum and your boss cheer not cringe.
